The Hozelock Ecocel 5000 is an ideal entry level, flow through box filter for ponds up to 5000 litres. The Ecocel pond filters use a combination of mechanical and biological filtration to effectively remove pond debris and break down harmful waste. Use in conjunction with a UVC such as the Hozelock Vorton UVC range for clear healthy water. How It Works Water enters the unit via a spray head, which is evenly distributed over a foam sheet. Solid particles in the water are trapped within the foam sheet. Almost solids free water then passes through plastic biomedia where beneficial bacteria cleanse pollutants. The amount of biomedia contained in the filter increases in direct proportion to the size of the pond/filter to support a greater number of fish. Purified water then passes up an outlet tube and back into the pond. The viewing hatch allows observation of the internal operation of the filter, in particular whether any maintenance is required.
