Overview

A stunningly intricate paper cut design of a Dragonfly. Cut into recycled black card and mounted in a deep box frame to create amazing shadows As artists we're constantly looking for intricacy in nature. We came across a fantastic photo of a dragonfly that really showcased the intricate lacework of its body and wings and we couldn't resist creating a papercut picture of it. Dragonflies are so iconic, especially in the UK. They remind me of fairies the way they fly, when you see them up close they are equally as other worldly. The intricacy of this piece really challenged us to get right, but the finished product is really something. The inspiration for creating these unique laser cut pictures was to capture the shadow on the back of the box frame. With such great depth in the box frame a dramatic shadow is always cast and creates a 3d effect. As the pictures capture different lights during the day and evening the shadows will subtly change. The scene is lasercut in to a single piece of paper. This piece is then mounted into a box frame ensuring the scene stays flat and true. The piece is mounted onto the front of the frame levatating the piece away from the back of the frame enabeling the shadow to be cast, creating a 3D effect of the piece. All scenes come fully framed in a black box frame which can be wall hung or left freestanding. Each frame comes with a clear acrylic front, not glass.
